What is the process?
By phone or email, I will gather all of your event details and what you are looking for. We will then schedule a consultation where you will have an opportunity to sample the flavors you've selected ahead of time and decide on your favorites. I understand planning an important event is a lot of work so I make it easy for you and bring the tasting to you! I find it is best to meet at your event venue or at your favorite local coffee shop.
At the time of your consultation, I will ask you to bring anything that could be used for inspiration- items such as invitations, dress, floral and venue photographs, swatch colors etc. The design process typically continues over the next few days. I will then email you a detailed sketch of the cake specifically designed for you as well as other pricing details. Once you approve the design of your cake, a 40% non-refundable deposit is required to save-the-date and reserve your place.
Two weeks prior to the event date, the remaining payment is required. I will go over and confirm all of the details with you including the final guest count. I will work directly with your venue to coordinate delivery and set up. From here, you can look forward to your custom cake presented to you and your guests.
Where are your consultations/tastings held?
I understand how much work and effort goes into planning a big event and I want to make it as easy as possible for you. I find it best to meet at your event venue or at your favorite coffee shop. Whatever is most convenient for you.
How much will my cake cost?
Each custom cake design is priced independently based on the number of servings, and amount of time that goes into each intricate detail of the cake designs (amount of sugar flowers, piping details, complexity of the design, etc). The cakes are priced by the slice, and average pricing ranges from $8.00 - $14.00 per serving. For example, if you have 100 guests, expect to pay somewhere between $800-$1300
What sets your cakes apart and makes them so special?
I offer a full cake design service. The prices per slice reflect the total time, effort, attention to detail, education and professional industry experience, knowledge of recipes and quality of ingredients, unique design ideas and capability of executing these ideas. I make all the sugar flowers individually by hand. These flowers take days to make and are carefully designed, colored and dusted to create the realism of each individual bloom. Some sugar flowers cost more than others due to the length of time to make them, as well as the quantity of flowers that are adorning the cake.
What is your payment policy?
A 40% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve you order and date; the remaining balance is due 2 weeks prior to your event. Your order is not confirmed until I have received your signed contract and the 40% non-refundable deposit. A tasting and design consultation requires a $40 deposit that will then be deducted from the final cost of your cake if booked.
How far in advance should i contact you and book my cake?
Right now! As soon as you book, we place your order on our production schedule. To guarantee a spot I recommend you place your order at least 3 months before your event date. However, we have also worked with less time so always feel free to call and inquire.
Can I order something other than a Wedding cake?
I gladly offer birthday cakes, baby shower cakes, bridal party cakes, corporate event cakes, cookies, and dessert tables. Just contact me and we can discuss!
Do you deliver?
Yes, in fact all of our cakes are hand delivered to ensure they arrive safely and are set up properly. Delivery starts at $35 for wedding cakes and are calculated by total distance traveled.
